Trekking through Majestic Timps and  Mediterranean Atmospheres

6 nights – 7 days

A trekking holiday in Calabria. This  itinerary takes place  in the northern part of Calabria, a region still wild, unspoilt and hauntingly beautiful. During our stay we explore some of the most fascinating “Timpe” of the Pollino National Park, Unesco Geopark.  The Park abounds with a gorgeous mediterranean nature, wild flowers, herbs like thymus and rosemary and many specimens of  the “Pino Loricato”, symbol of the Park. It is also often possible to admire griffins, Poiane and Gheppi.  We stay in a suggestive old village, perched high on hilltop, facing the majestic “Timpa del Demanio” and the Raganello gorges, one of the longest in Europe. Day by day we make different unforgettable experiences hiking in some of the most scenic routes observing and getting to know flowers, plants, wild herbs and their usage. Roberto, a passionate guide and breeder of raptors tells us about their unkown and fascinating life giving us the chance to get close to them in its wild habitat surrounded by the mediterranen nature and facing a fantastic view on the Raganello gorges. We dedicate a morning to the exciting experience of grazing and milking the cows, from their milk we learn how to produce a typical and delicious southern Italian cheese “ricotta” that we taste together.
